Consistent Pace Maintenance with Late Improvement Yassmin Ortega competed in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K event, representing the Navy Ready Reserve Racers/Mission Ready Milers team. With an overall completion time of 1:54:45, her pacing saw interesting shifts particularly noteworthy from Mile 5 to Mile 7. She started at a consistent pace with the first mile at 12:24 min/mile and faced a significant slowdown on Hayes Hill from Mile 2 to Mile 3, where her pace peaked at 21:49 min/mile. Post Hayes Hill, Yassmin demonstrated solid recovery, significantly improving her pace over the last miles, notably pacing 11:24 min/mile for Mile 5.
