Steady Gains and Strong Finish at Bay to Breakers Maya Gutierrez tackled the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with a consistent effort, showcasing strong determination. She maintained a steady pace for most of the course, completing the distance in 2:33:52. The course's steep Hayes Hill at miles 2.2 - 2.7 proved challenging, with the third mile split extending to 24:01 minutes. However, Maya managed to regain momentum with improved pacing in the final miles, hitting a faster split at mile 7. Notably, Maya improved her standing as the race progressed. With a strong finish, she placed 7536 out of 24386 overall, an advancement from mid-race placements. Her performance in the F19 & Under division showed marked improvement, finishing 400th with a strategic push in the latter half. To build on this success, maintaining an even pace through the more challenging elevations could enhance her overall time. Her consistent pacing and ability to recover well are key strengths to continue developing.
