Consistent Effort with Strategic Finish John Komarnicki from Schaumburg, IL, maintained a consistent pace throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K. His early mile splits were steady at a pace of 15:47 min/mile for both the first and second miles. During the challenging segment on Hayes Hill, there was an expected slow down, with mile 3 clocking in at 20:00 min/mile, but he skillfully decreased his time thereafter, finishing strong in the latter portion of the race. Komarnicki showed an impressive improvement in his final mile splits. From the onset of mile 6, his pace quickened to 14:08 min/mile and even further to 13:11 min/mile by the seventh mile.
