Consistent Improvement and Strong Finishing Pace James Bao maintained a steady and improving pace throughout the "2026 Bay to Breakers" 12K Centipede event, representing Tomass Cats. Starting with a pace of 23:45 min/mile for the first two miles and maintaining the same time of 23:45, Bao demonstrated consistent performance early in the race. Notably, as he approached mile 3, amidst the challenging Hayes Hill stretch, he improved his pace to 22:00 min/mile, showing resilience in elevation changes and advancing significantly to 521st place among males. In the latter stages of the race, Bao continued to enhance his performance, completing mile 4 in 19:00 and maintaining a pace just under 20 min/mile for the remaining miles, finishing with an overall time of 2:36:04. Despite steady climbs, Bao's paced finish at 20:56 min/mile is noteworthy. A focus on maintaining this improvement trend could serve well for future performances.
