Strong Start, Slowed Finish Hayden Cox started with a consistent performance, maintaining a pace between 7:12 and 7:32 per mile for the first half of the race. Notably, his splits from mile one to eight varied only slightly, with his fastest mile at seven being 7:20. Most of his early miles saw him between 101st and 116th place overall, showcasing a steady beginning in the top half of participants. However, the latter part of the marathon showed a significant gradual decline in his pace. From mile 17 onwards, his pace dropped to as low as 15:03 for a given mile, and his overall time consequently increased to 8:38 per mile by the finish. This shift in pace resulted in a final placement of 280th overall, 238th among males, and 56th in his division. Maintaining strength and pacing throughout the second half could improve overall results.
