Consistent Improvement on the Race Track Ben Larson, competing in the 2025 Boulderthon 5K, demonstrated a commendable improvement from his previous race performance. At only 9 years old, Ben managed an overall time of 24:36, achieving an average pace of 7:56 per mile. Throughout the race, his pacing varied with a strong opening mile of 7:52 and a steady pace of 7:45 in the second mile before concluding with an 8:22 split. Notably, his final placement was 9th in the M14 & Under division, all the more impressive given the field of 1972 participants. Compared to his prior year's performance, where he clocked in at 25:14 on the same course, Ben improved by 38 seconds in total race time and advanced his pace by 12 seconds per mile. Maintaining a strong initial mile and showing improvement in split consistency could further enhance race outcomes. Continuing to build on his pacing strategy will optimize future performances.
