Strong Middle Mile Powers Aurora Runner Through Boulder 5K Alexys Birmingham finished the 5K in 29:57, an overall pace of 9:39 per mile. Her race unfolded in three distinct chapters: an opening mile of 9:47, a sharp pickup to 8:08 for mile two her fastest stretch of the day and a settling final mile at 11:09 as she approached the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. That middle-mile surge was the clear highlight, dropping her cumulative pace to 8:57 before the course, run at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet, brought the pace back up for the closing stretch. Overall, a race defined by a fast, confident middle section bookended by steadier efforts on either side.
