Fast Start Carries Into a Grinding Final 10K Jason Knox completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:10:48, an 9:34 min/mile pace. A year earlier he ran the Half Marathon at this event in 1:57:08 (8:56 min/mile), and his marathon opening matched that same rhythm before the back half asked more of him. Through the first 10 miles he moved at roughly 8:22 min/mile, tracking evenly with only small fluctuations. From mile 13 on, per-mile splits stretched steadily, dropping into the 11- and 12-minute range by miles 19-21, then settling into a more even 11:20-11:35 pace for the final miles to the finish. That opening 10-mile stretch stands out as his strongest sustained running of the day, holding sub-8:25 pace mile after mile. He finished on the historic Pearl Street Mall, closing out a course that, like the rest of Boulder, sits above 5,000 feet of elevation.
