Faster Finish, Sharper Pacing at Altitude Simon Holstein crossed the marathon in 3:52:54, placing 283rd overall (227th among men) in a field of 3,305 an improvement on his 2025 Boulderthon finish of 3:57:00, when he ran 8:53 min/mile pace and placed 423rd overall. Holstein built his race on a strong first half, holding between 8:02 and 8:15 min/mile pace through mile 13, with his quickest full mile coming at mile 11 in 7:43. That control began to loosen from mile 18 onward, as splits stretched into the 9:2312:58 min/mile range through mile 25 before he closed with an 8:16 final mile. Running the Boulder course above 5,000 feet of elevation, Holstein's steady front-half execution set up the year-over-year gain, even as the closing miles cost him some of that early cushion.
