Steady Early Rhythm Gives Way to a Tough Final Stretch Alejandro Gutierrez covered the marathon distance in 4:02:36, a shade off his 3:59:57 finish at last year's Boulderthon. Both efforts left him ninth in the M50-54 division, showing consistent positioning across the two races despite the time difference. The race unfolded in two distinct halves. Through the first 19 miles, Gutierrez ran a tightly controlled 8:26 average mile pace, rarely drifting outside the 8:16-8:48 range and holding position among the race's top pack. That opening stretch stood out as his strongest sustained running of the day. The closing miles told a different story, with splits stretching past 10, then 11, then 12 minutes per mile as fatigue set in. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over a mile above sea level, Gutierrez's early pace held firm before the demands of the back half caught up with him.
