Strong Front Two-Thirds Give Way to a Tough Final Stretch Jaxon Clough finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:24:48, a few minutes off his 4:18:00 from the 2025 race, with his mile pace slipping from 9:50 to 10:06. The race built steadily: after opening miles near 9:20-9:30 pace, Clough settled into a strong middle stretch, with miles 14 through 17 covering ground at roughly 8:37 pace, including a fastest mile of 8:13 at mile 15. That effort carried him through mile 20 at a cumulative 9:05 pace. The closing miles told a different story, as splits climbed past 11, 12, and eventually 14 minutes per mile from mile 21 to 25, pulling his overall pace back to 10:06 by the finish. Racing at altitude in Boulder, over 5,000 feet, adds context to that late fade, with the strong midrace miles standing out as the highlight of the effort.
