Third Straight Boulderthon PR Cements Steady Progress Martin Calvillo lowered his Boulderthon marathon time to 4:12:21, continuing a three-year improvement at this race: 4:43:02 in 2024, 4:22:43 in 2025, and now his fastest finish yet. His pacing showed the same pattern of steady gains opening in the 9:30s-9:40s per mile through the first half, then finding his best rhythm from miles 14 to 19, clicking off 9:17, 8:38, 9:17, 9:01, 9:13 and 9:09, his strongest mile-plus stretch of the day. The closing miles cooled into the 10:20-11:20 range before he rallied to a 9:38 final mile. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Calvillo's continued time drops each year point to solid aerobic development. If he's looking for a focus area, shoring up strength in the final 10K to match his mid-race surge could help close the gap even further next time.
