Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: John Munson #13682 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

First in His Division, Steady from Start to Finish John Munson won the M65-69 division at the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:04:08, a step back from his 3:52:34 in 2025. Miles 1-10 were remarkably consistent, holding between 8:56 and 9:22 pace, before he found another gear over miles 10-12, clicking off a 8:15 and 8:50 to reach his fastest point in the race. The closing miles from 19-24 slowed into the 9:50-10:24 range as fatigue set in, but he held on to close out strong with a 9:16 final mile. Munson's division win came in a marathon that finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting capstone to a well-paced effort at altitude above 5,000 feet.
