Steady Middle Miles Power a Solid Marathon Finish Joey Alvarez finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:06:16, placing 461st overall and 359th among men in a field of 3,305. Alvarez opened conservatively, settling into rhythm by mile 6. From there through mile 18, he ran a remarkably consistent stretch roughly twelve miles at an 8:368:45 min/mile pace which anchored his overall time and kept him moving efficiently through the race's midsection. The final quarter told a different story: mile splits stretched from 9:52 to as slow as 12:49 between miles 19 and 23 before he rallied to close with a 9:03 mile 26. Given that Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, holding that middle-mile consistency stands out as the highlight of the effort. A stronger hold on that early rhythm into the closing miles could be the next target.
