Steady Miles, Strong Finish Brandon Mahan completed the marathon in 4:14:30, an average pace of 9:42 per mile. He opened with a tight sequence of sub-9:30 miles through the first nine, hit a rough patch near the mid-race point, then settled back into rhythm for a long middle stretch before a modest fade over the closing 10K. His final full mile came in at 9:16, the fastest mile of the back half. Miles 11 through 20 were his most consistent stretch of the day, covering that 10-mile section in roughly 9:28 per mile with splits tightly clustered between 8:53 and 9:41. That steadiness carried him through the higher elevation of Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, and on toward the finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
