A Steady Grind to a Solid Marathon Finish Joshua Ruelas completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:06:06, an outcome slower than his 3:48:13 finish at the same distance in 2024. Through the first 12 miles, Ruelas ran with notable consistency, holding a pace between 8:54 and 9:46 per mile and settling into a cumulative pace of roughly 9:01 per mile by the halfway point. From mile 13 onward, his pace gradually eased, drifting into the 9:30-10:00 range, before a tougher stretch between miles 21 and 22, where his split pace slowed to 10:33 and 10:51. He rallied over the closing miles, bringing his pace back down to the 9:30s through the finish. The steadiest running of the day came across miles 3 through 12, where Ruelas held a tight band of paces near 9:00 per mile despite Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet. He closed his marathon on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, capping a race defined by an even-effort front half and a resilient finish.
