Steady Early Pace Fuels Strong Marathon Finish Jeffrey Freund crossed the line in 3:42:44, placing 176th overall and 150th among men in the field of 3,305 at the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon. That result also placed him 21st in the men's 35-39 division. Freund's race unfolded in two distinct phases. Through the first ten miles, his pace held remarkably steady in the low-to-mid 8:00s, with splits ranging from 8:02 to 8:32 and an average near 8:23 per mile, a strong, consistent foundation for the race. The middle miles continued in similar rhythm through mile 20, before a natural settling into the 9:00-9:22 range from miles 21 through 25 as fatigue accumulated late in the marathon. Freund closed strong, however, dropping back to an 8:21 pace over the final mile, a solid finish that reflected well on his pacing discipline across the full 26.2-mile distance at altitude.
