Strong Front Half Fuels Solid Marathon Finish Gabriel Skugor finished the marathon in 3:35:14, placing 135th overall and 117th among men out of the field of 3,305. Through the first 18 miles, his pace held remarkably steady, hovering between 7:12 and 7:40 per mile, a stretch that anchored the overall result. The back half told a different story: pace eased into the 8:12 range through mile 20, then slowed further from mile 22 onward, with splits climbing into the 10:00-12:38 range before closing out the race. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any marathon effort, and Skugor's opening 18 miles stand out as the strongest stretch of the day. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall capped a race defined by a well-paced first three-quarters. Building strength to sustain that early rhythm deeper into the closing miles could be a worthwhile focus for future efforts.
