Steady Early Miles Fuel a Strong Finish Dorota Szymanski completed the marathon in 4:14:55, finishing second in her women's 50-54 division. She held a consistent rhythm through the first 18 miles, cycling between 9:00 and 9:30 per mile, before easing to a 10:30-11:08 range from miles 19 through 23 as the race stretched on. She then rallied over the closing miles, bringing her pace back down to the 9:41-10:54 window through the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. Her strongest stretch came early, from miles 4 through 6, where she clicked off 9:11, 9:03, and 8:59 the fastest three-mile span of her race. That effort followed the marathon's route out past Boulder Reservoir and the county backroads, all at over 5,000 feet of elevation. With her back-half pacing showing some separation from the front, a touch more even effort through the middle miles could help preserve that early speed all the way to the Mall.
