Steady Pacing Gives Way to a Strong Closing Kick Jack Hagebak finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:32:16, a step back from his 4:24:37 finish in 2024. His cumulative pace held in a narrow band, drifting from 10:13 min/mile at the first mile to a peak of 10:26 min/mile by mile 23, before tightening back down to 10:23 min/mile at the finish. The final miles stood out: after grinding through the low-10:00s and a 12:03 split at mile 21, Hagebak reeled off miles 24 through 26 in 10:18, 10:13, and 9:24 his fastest mile of the day climbing from 852nd to 684th overall in that stretch. That closing surge came after covering the marathon's backroads past Boulder Reservoir, with the finish on the Pearl Street Mall capping a race run at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
