Strong Early Pace Gives Way to a Gritty Final Stretch Katherine Bekasova completed the marathon in 5:30:44. She built a steady foundation through the first 12 miles, holding between 10:41 and 11:32 per mile and reaching the halfway point with an elapsed pace near 11:03. The middle miles brought a gradual fade into the 12-14 minute range, and the effort loosened further past mile 20 as the pace settled into the 15-17 minute range. Her final mile came in at 13:27, a notable pickup from the 15-16 minute pace of miles 21-25. The opening 12 miles stand as the highlight of the day, a sustained, even effort before the terrain took its toll. That stretch of the course carried her out toward Boulder Reservoir and through the county backroads before turning back for the finish on the Pearl Street Mall, all run at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet.
