Steady Climb Through the Backroads Yields a Top-10% Finish Trevor Pomis completed the marathon in 3:54:14, an 8:56 min/mile pace, placing 295th overall and 235th among men out of the field of 3,305. Pomis opened briskly, clicking off his first mile in 8:00 before settling into a steady 8:40s-8:50s rhythm through the middle miles. His strongest stretch came at miles 15 and 16, where he dropped to 7:56 and 7:50, his fastest full-mile pace of the race. The closing miles brought some fluctuation, with splits stretching into the 9:40-10:50 range around miles 22-24, before he closed with an 8:33 final mile. This year's marathon course, which winds past Boulder Reservoir and county backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, featured a redesigned route cutting net elevation gain to 603 feet, a notable adjustment at Boulder's mile-high altitude.
