Steady Through Eighteen Miles Before the Late-Race Fade Kyra Sedej finished the marathon in 4:21:48, about six minutes slower than her 4:15:44 finish at the same event last year, with her overall position also slipping slightly from 696th to 705th. Her early and middle miles were tightly controlled, running between 9:17 and 9:43 per mile from the start through mile 18, including a fastest mile of 8:49 at mile 11. From mile 19 on, the pace loosened steadily, stretching to 12:06 by mile 22 before firming back up to 10:45 over the closing mile. The marathon course carries runners out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
