Fast First Half Gives Way to a Hard-Fought Finish Devon Mikaniewicz completed the marathon in 4:26:21, averaging 10:09 per mile. He built an efficient rhythm early, holding between 7:59 and 8:50 per mile through mile 13 and reaching the halfway point in 1:48:25 an 8:20 average that stood as the strongest stretch of his day. The second half asked more of him: pace eased steadily from the mid-8:00s into the 10- to 14-minute range over the closing miles, before he brought it home with a 10:29 final mile. The marathon's back half winds past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads, above 5,000 feet of elevation, before returning to the Pearl Street Mall. That stretch met Mikaniewicz near mile 22, where his pace dipped to 14:50, close to the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone at mile 22.5, before he steadied again on the run into downtown Boulder.
