Hopperstad locked into a tight 8:05-8:13 elapsed pace through mile 18, a span that held remarkably even as the race wore on. The second half brought a natural fade, with mile splits settling into the 9:50s from miles 21-25, before he closed with a 9:04 final mile, his fastest of that closing stretch.
