Strong Front-Half Surge Carries a Steady Marathon Brian Bertelsen finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:38:10, averaging 10:37 per mile over the 26.2-mile course. He opened efficiently, covering the first six miles in under 58 minutes, and held a pace between roughly 9:25 and 9:40 per mile through mile 18. The effort eased over the final stretch, with his closing miles settling near 12:48 to 13:30 per mile as he made his way toward the finish. His standout segment came between miles 6 and 11, where he averaged about 9:16 per mile, the fastest sustained stretch of his race. That effort carried him through the rolling backroads before the course turned back toward downtown Boulder, passing near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 22.5. Racing at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Bertelsen's disciplined early pacing made for a well-managed effort into the Pearl Street Mall finish.
