Fast Start, Steady Finish Gus Swansen completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:36:08, placing 144th overall and 124th among men in a field of 3,305. That result follows his showing at the 2025 Boulderthon Half Marathon, where he ran 1:39:15. His marathon opened briskly with a 7:00 opening mile, and his cumulative pace held near 7:20 min/mile through the halfway point before easing into the 8:009:00 min/mile range over the closing miles, finishing with an overall pace of 8:14 min/mile. His first 13 miles stood out most, holding steady between 7:14 and 7:26 min/mile elapsed pace through downtown Boulder's rolling terrain. Racing at over 5,000 feet of elevation, that disciplined early pacing gave him a strong foundation for the back half. Carrying that same rhythm a little further past mile 15 could be a worthwhile focus for his next race.
