Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Marathon Finish Zachary Aster finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:25:14, placing 79th overall and 70th among men in a field of 3,305. He also finished 17th in the M20-24 division. Aster's race unfolded in two distinct phases: a remarkably even first 21 miles, holding between 7:18 and 7:57 per mile and never drifting far from a 7:40-7:42 cumulative pace, followed by a gradual settling into the 8:00s over the closing miles as the elevated Boulder course - sitting above 5,000 feet - took its toll. His strongest stretch came from mile 6 to mile 11, where he clicked off five miles at 7:30-7:44 pace, including a fastest mile of 7:18. Given that consistency through the middle miles, a touch more reserve for the final 10K could help him carry that early rhythm all the way to the Pearl Street Mall finish.
