Strong Start Fuels a Steady Marathon Grind to the Finish Jack Lyon completed the marathon at the 2026 Boulderthon in 4:25:52, an average pace of 10:08 per mile. Through the first 13 miles, Lyon moved briskly, reaching the halfway point in 1:52:34, an even split pace of roughly 8:39 per mile. The middle miles held firm through mile 19, with cumulative pace never drifting past 8:52 per mile. From there, the pace eased mile over mile, settling into the low 9:00s by mile 22 before continuing to decelerate over the closing miles. Miles 1 through 13 stood out as Lyon's most efficient stretch, holding sub-8:45 pace across that span. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any distance covered there, and Lyon's opening half reflected discipline paired against that backdrop.
