Steady Early Pace Fuels a Top-10 Marathon Finish Michael Oliva finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 2:57:22, placing 7th overall and 7th among men in a field of 3,305. That's slower than his 2:44:40 from last year, when he placed 9th overall, but this year's result moved him two spots higher in the standings. Oliva's race stayed remarkably even through the first 21 miles, holding between 6:18 and 6:54 pace per mile and never drifting far from his overall 6:31-6:35 clip. Miles 11 through 21 were his most consistent stretch, sitting in the mid-6:30s despite the elevation. The final miles told a different story, with splits climbing past 7:00 from mile 22 on. That effort came on a redesigned course, which trimmed the marathon's net elevation gain from 982 to 603 feet this year.
