Steady Pacing Carries a Strong Finish on the Mall Christine Gagnon completed the half marathon in 3:15:34, finishing among the field of 7,223 in Boulder. Her race opened briskly, with a 12:47 first mile before settling into a rhythm that eased mile by mile, cumulative pace drifting from 12:47 to 14:55 by the finish. The middle miles brought the steepest slowing, from 14:36 at mile seven to 16:57 by mile eleven, before she found another gear over the final two miles, closing in 15:22 and 15:56. That opening mile stands as her fastest stretch of the day, a pace never quite matched again. She capped the effort with a finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting stage for the steady effort she sustained across the second half of the course.
