Steady Pace Powers a Top-6% Marathon Finish Lily Knauer covered the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:44:49, finishing 192nd overall out of the field of 3,305 and 27th among women. Her mile splits stayed remarkably even through the first ten miles, hovering between 8:36 and 8:41 per mile, before she found another gear in the middle third of the race. Miles 19 through 21 were her strongest stretch, averaging roughly 8:27 per mile as her overall pace tightened toward 8:33. She held that effort into the closing miles, easing only slightly to an 8:35 overall pace by the finish. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Knauer tackled the newly redesigned marathon course, which cut net elevation gain by roughly 40 percent to 603 feet. Her mile 22 split, just past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, showed a brief dip to 8:50 before she rallied over the final miles to close strong.
