Steady Early Miles Give Way to a Determined Finish Grace Babcock covered the Boulderthon marathon in 4:06:03. Her early and middle miles were remarkably even, holding between 8:40 and 8:55 per mile from mile 4 through mile 18, a stretch that anchored the overall effort. The back half brought a natural shift in rhythm, with mile splits settling into the 10- to 11-minute range from mile 19 onward, before a final mile that dropped back to 9:58 for a strong close to the race. That 14-mile stretch of consistency, sitting for over an hour and a half near 8:45 pace, stands out as the highlight of the race. Late in the course, she moved through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, a section she covered as part of the marathon's run out past Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
