Steady Pace Through Altitude, With a Strong Midrace Surge Joshua Martinez finished the marathon in 4:02:17, averaging 9:14 per mile. He opened briskly, holding roughly 8:55 pace through the first eight miles, then slowed sharply at mile nine before rallying. His strongest stretch came from miles 10 through 13, covered in 34:20 for an 8:35 average mile pace, his fastest sustained running of the day. A rough mile 15 briefly slowed his rhythm, but he steadied again through the high teens before easing gradually over the closing miles, finishing with a 10:07 final mile. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Martinez pushed a strong 8:57 mile near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 22.5, one of his sharper efforts in the marathon's closing miles.
