Steady Pacing Fuels Strong Finish Gavin Crowson finished the marathon in 3:47:15, an average of 8:40 per mile, placing 213th overall and 177th among men in a field of 3,305. His mile splits held in a tight band through the middle of the race, rarely straying more than 20 seconds from that overall pace, before easing modestly in the closing miles as the effort accumulated. His strongest stretch came from mile 9 to mile 11, three miles covered in just under 25 minutes and including an 8:03 split, his fastest mile of the race. That stretch, run at over 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder, reflected his best command of pace all day. Crowson's Boulderthon record includes a 2:08:10 half marathon in 2023; stepping up to the full marathon distance here, he carried that same pacing discipline across more than twice the distance.
