Fast Start Fuels a Determined Marathon Finish Jackson Cowart completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:21:46, an overall pace of 9:59 per mile. His race showed a clear two-part shape: a quick opening then a steady fade through the second half, with cumulative pace sliding from the 6:50s early to just under 10:00 by the finish. The first six miles were the highlight, covered in roughly 41:57 an average of about 6:59 per mile, well under his overall pace. From there, mile splits lengthened steadily, settling into the 10:0013:00 range over the back half before he closed strong with a 10:01 26th mile. Running at Boulders altitude of over 5,000 feet, that early pace stands out as the strongest sustained effort of the day. Going forward, Jackson might consider a more even early pace to help preserve that opening speed deeper into the race.
