Steady Pace Through 20 Miles Anchors a Division Title Todd Abbott finished the marathon in 3:47:07, placing 211th overall and 175th among men out of the field of 3,305 good enough for first in the M55-59 division. His race was built on a strong middle stretch: from mile 3 through mile 20, he held between 7:48 and 8:35 per mile, keeping his cumulative pace locked near 8:10-8:16 for nearly seventeen miles. That consistency carried him through the race's toughest test, holding first in his division from mile 6 onward. The closing miles told a different story, with pace easing to the 9:15-11:02 range between miles 21 and 24 as he passed the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that late fade is a reasonable trade-off for the sub-8:20 pace he banked earlier. A touch more reserve for the final 10K could be worth targeting next time.
