Steady Pacing Through Midrace, Strong Closing Miles Seal a Top-Tier Finish Veaceslav Popa finished the marathon in 3:47:27, an 8:40 min/mile pace, placing 216th overall and 180th among men in a field of 3,305. Popa's race unfolded in two distinct phases. Through the first 17 miles he held remarkably even pacing, cruising between 8:24 and 8:29 per mile as he moved steadily into the race's middle stages. A dip followed from miles 18 through 23, with pace drifting out to the 8:369:32 range, before he rallied over the final three miles, tightening back down to 8:339:03 per mile to close strong. That late push came through the stretch near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 22.5, and carried him to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall a strong result at over 5,000 feet of altitude.
