Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Adrian Castro #13652 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Even Early Miles Give Way to a Long Grind Home Adrian Castro finished the marathon in 4:38:30, an average pace of 10:37 per mile. He ran the first 13.1 miles in 1:59:09, an even 9:09-mile pace that held firm through the halfway point and stayed close to that rhythm through mile 18. From there the pace eased steadily, drifting into the 12- to 15-minute range over the closing eight miles before he crossed the finish in downtown Boulder. That opening half-marathon stretch stands as the strongest sustained running of his day, nearly a minute and a half faster per mile than his final segment. Castro passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, right as his pace began its steepest climb, a stretch run at altitude in a city that sits above 5,000 feet. The marathon course sends runners out past Boulder Reservoir and county backroads before returning to finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
