Steady Marathon Pacing Through Boulder's Backroads Mark Hunter finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:07:08, an elapsed pace of 9:25 per mile across 26.2 miles. His first quarter of the race showed the most consistency: miles 1 through 4 clicked off in the 8:569:08 range, holding elapsed pace at roughly 9:04 per mile through that stretch, his most efficient running of the day. Cumulative pace held near 9:159:20 through the middle miles before drifting into the 9:20s by mile 20. The 21st and 22nd miles slowed to 10:22 and 10:08, near where the course passes the lululemon Power-Up Zone at mile 22.5, before Hunter rallied over the closing miles, dropping his final mile to 9:05 en route to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation.
