Steady Early Miles Give Way to a Strong Closing Kick Nicole Pagliari finished the marathon in 4:03:21. Her pace held remarkably steady through the first 18 miles, hovering between 8:23 and 9:11 per mile, before settling into the 9:5010:30 range from miles 19 through 23 as fatigue set in. She then rallied over the final three miles, dropping back into the 9:30s and 9:50s before crossing the line in downtown Boulder on the Pearl Street Mall. The strongest stretch of the day came from mile 1 to mile 18, where Pagliari covered that span at roughly an 8:53 per mile pace, a mark of real consistency over more than two hours of racing. That composure paid off, especially given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, a demanding backdrop for any marathon effort.
