Steady Through Halfway, Strong Finish Kick Caps Marathon Effort Erin Faurote crossed the marathon finish line in 4:01:19. Her opening 15 miles were remarkably consistent, holding a 9:009:05 pace through the midpoint before the effort gradually eased between miles 16 and 25, with per-mile splits drifting into the 9:409:58 range. She answered that stretch with her fastest mile of the second half, closing in 8:44 for mile 26 a strong final push after the toughest section of her race. That closing surge came on a course finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at more than 5,000 feet of elevation. Given the thinner air, Faurote's ability to rally in the final mile after a demanding late stretch stands out as a highlight of her race.
