Strong Start Fuels a Top-10% Finish Michael Weahkee crossed in 3:49:38, placing 232nd overall and 190th among men in the field of 3,305. Through the first nine miles he ran between 7:10 and 7:42 per mile, holding roughly 7:25 average pace and building a comfortable cushion. From miles 10 through 18 his pace eased into the high 7:00s and low 8:00s, still under 8:00 per mile through mile 20. The closing 10K brought the steepest change, with per-mile splits climbing into the 10- to 12-minute range as he worked toward the finish. That opening stretch through mile 9 stands as the highlight of the race, run at a pace well ahead of his overall average. The course took him out past Boulder Reservoir before turning back toward downtown, finishing on the Pearl Street Mall all at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
