Steady Pacing Carries Denver Runner Through a Strong Marathon Finish Evan Schaefer completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:06:17, an average pace of 9:24 per mile. His race unfolded with remarkable consistency: he passed the halfway point near 2:00:00 and held pace within a tight band through the second half, finishing strong over the final miles as splits tightened back toward his overall average. His fastest mile came from mile 12 to 13, clocked at 8:35, a clear high point in an otherwise even effort. Running the full 26.2 miles at Boulders elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds real weight to that pace consistency.
