Strong Start Gives Way to a Grinding Final 10K Jackson Anderes completed the marathon in 4:34:02, an average pace of 10:27 per mile. His race unfolded in two distinct halves: a controlled opening ten miles near 8:30 pace, followed by a gradual fade that steepened sharply after mile 20, with the final 10K slowing into the 13-16 minute range before a strong final mile back to 14:19. His best stretch came in the opening eight miles, covered in just over 68 minutes at roughly 8:31 per mile, the fastest sustained running of his day. That opening effort came at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, before the course carried him out past Boulder Reservoir and county backroads en route to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. Building a touch more cushion into the middle miles could help preserve that early rhythm over the closing 10K.
