Strong Early Pace Fades Late but Finish Holds Steady Eric Pace completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:46:19, an 8:38 min/mile average pace across the 26.2-mile course. He opened briskly, covering the first mile in 7:49, then settled into a controlled rhythm through the middle miles before the pace eased over the final 10K, closing with a 9:10 min/mile stretch across the last two miles. His strongest stretch came early: miles 1 through 10 clicked by in 1:22:09, an 8:13 min/mile average, showing well-managed effort through the race's opening third. That marathon route finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting over 5,000 feet of elevation, a fitting backdrop for a race built on early consistency. Holding closer to that opening pace over the closing miles could be a useful focus for future marathon efforts.
