Steady Middle Miles Power a Marathon Finish Javier Torres completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 5:11:32. He opened quickly, covering the first three miles in under 30 minutes, before a mile 4 slowdown pulled his cumulative pace back near 10:50. From there he steadied, holding roughly 9:0511:26 per mile through the half-marathon mark (2:11:36), keeping his overall pace in the low 10:00s. The closing miles told a different story, as his per-mile splits climbed into the 1316 minute range from mile 19 onward, nudging his final elapsed pace to 11:53 per mile. His strongest single mile came at mile 11, clocked in 9:05, the fastest mile of his race and part of a broader stretch from miles 6 through 13 where he ran consistently under 11 minutes per mile. That effort came at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, on a course that carries runners out past the reservoir before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall.
