Steady Early Pace Carries Marathon Effort Through Boulder Magnus Koeninger completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:24:30. He built a strong foundation through the race's first half, holding a steady 9:00-9:15 min/mile pace through mile 18, before the effort cost him in the closing miles, where his pace eased into the 11-14 min/mile range from mile 21 onward, finishing at a 10:05 min/mile overall clip. The standout stretch of the day came in the opening 18 miles, where Koeninger's pace barely wavered a tight band between 8:36 and 9:39 per mile that reflects disciplined, controlled running at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet. He passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 as his pace began to shift, just before the course carried him toward the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
