Big Personal Breakthrough Fuels Strong Marathon Finish Padyn Knapp crossed the line in 4:08:47, cutting more than an hour off his 5:17:08 finish at the 2023 Boulderthon marathon a major jump forward in both time and pace. Knapp's race opened fast and consistent, with miles 1 through 6 clicking off at an 8:33 average pace, the strongest sustained stretch of his day. He held that rhythm well into the second half, still under 8:45 pace through mile 18. The final third told a different story: by mile 22, near the lululemon Power-Up Zone at roughly mile 22.5, his pace had eased into the 11:20s, and it stayed in that range to the finish. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the even effort through the first 18 miles stands out as the clear foundation for his improved finish.
