Steady Early Miles Power a Marathon Finish Theresa Prehn completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 5:26:42. She opened with strong control, covering the first five miles in under 45 minutes at roughly an 8:50 min/mile pace, holding a consistent rhythm through the first 10 miles near 9:10 min/mile. From there, her pace gradually eased mile by mile, settling into the 10-11 min/mile range through the middle miles before slowing further over the closing 10K as fatigue accumulated late in the race. Her first five miles stand out as the strongest sustained stretch of the day, run well under 9:00 min/mile pace and faster than any other five-mile segment in the race. Prehn's marathon took her through Boulder County backroads and out past Boulder Reservoir before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a course run at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Going forward, working on maintaining more of that early rhythm into the later miles could be a useful focus.
